This was a UX presentation designed with the intent to share a recent effort to upgrade a long standing promotional package from NCL.com called Free at Sea. Free at Sea as a legacy offer, has multiple parts to it covering considerations for beverages, wifi, shore excursions and others. The intent of the task was to offer a user an opportunity to upsell users defaulted into this legacy offer with a enhanced variant of those same offers for an additional cost.
The challenges for this task, was that this offer only applies to booked guest who are logging into the booked guest portal after completing their booking. At this time, the booked guest experience portal was still living on our legacy framework and had not been redesigned for the new technology and more flexible design framework yet. That said, opportunities and to enhance balance details of the ask was difficult to keep within the requirements of that structure.
Additionally, this flow had multiple impact moments for the user starting across the booked guest experience. Multiple page templates were modified, including summary pages, product details pages, cart windows, checkout, as well as the online check-in experience.
Once deployed, the updated experience was highly successful and is used for multiple promotional upgrade types today.
